Product & Customization

How accurate are the star maps?
Extremely accurate. We use the Hipparcos star catalog, a high-precision catalog of stars generated by the European Space Agency's Hipparcos satellite. This allows us to calculate the exact position of every star from any location on Earth, at any point in time (past or future).
How can I verify the data?
We use professional astronomical data sources, including the Hipparcos catalog and algorithms trusted by NASA. You can verify the accuracy of your star map using open-source astronomy software like Stellarium. Simply input the date, time, and location from your map into the software to see the exact same sky alignment.
Can I preview my map before ordering?
Yes! Our editor shows you a real-time preview of your map as you design it. What you see is exactly what we will print.
What quality is the paper?
We use museum-grade, 200gsm fine art matte paper. It is archival quality, meaning it won't yellow over time, and the matte finish ensures your star map looks great from any angle without glare.
Do the maps come framed?
Yes, we offer high-quality wooden frames in black, white, and natural wood finishes. Our frames are made from sustainably sourced wood and come ready to hang.

Shipping & Delivery

How long does shipping take?
Most orders are printed and shipped within 2-4 business days. Delivery times vary by location:
  • UK & Ireland: 2-5 business days
  • Europe: 3-7 business days
  • USA & Canada: 3-7 business days
  • Rest of World: 7-14 business days
Do you ship worldwide?
Yes, we ship to almost every country in the world. We work with a global network of printing partners to print your order as close to you as possible, which reduces shipping times and carbon emissions.
Can I track my order?
Yes, all orders are shipped with tracking. You will receive a tracking link via email as soon as your order is dispatched.
Will I have to pay customs or import duties?
In most cases, no. Because we print locally in over 30 countries, we can usually ship your order from within your own country or region (e.g., EU, USA, UK, Australia), avoiding customs fees. However, for some international shipments to countries where we don't have a local print partner, customs fees may apply depending on your local regulations.

Orders & Refunds

Can I change my order details after placing it?
We process orders very quickly to ensure fast delivery. You have a 1-hour window after placing your order to contact us if you need to make changes to the date, time, location, or message. After this time, your order may have already entered production.
What if my order arrives damaged?
We offer a free replacement guarantee. If your order arrives damaged or with any print defects, simply contact us at support@writtenabove.com within 14 days with a photo of the issue, and we will send a replacement free of charge.
What is your refund policy?
Because each star map is custom-made to your specific date and location, we cannot offer returns for change of mind. However, we will happily replace or refund any order that is damaged, defective, or incorrect due to our error. You can read our full Refund Policy here.
Do you include an invoice in the box?
No, we do not include any price information or invoices in the packaging, making it perfect for sending directly as a gift.
